The RSL Academy U-17s secured a spot in the GA Cup Final Tournament with 2-1 win over D.C. United to close out the U-17 competition of the Spring Regional Qualifying Tournament. The early and heavy pressure benefited RSL as it found a goal in the 11th minute after Kevin Mearse took a shot towards goal that was saved but deflected in the path of Christian Nydegger to clean up.

RSL kept its attacking momentum going forward with creative passing and ball movement that resulted in a low cross to find Abel Mendoza who converted the second RSL goal in the 36th minute. D.C. United began to swing momentum in its favor, but the pact RSL defense kept United with few shots on target. United’s Xavier O’Niell was able to pull one back late, however it wasn’t enough to stop the RSL Academy U-17s from picking up the three points.
