U-17 USMNT KICKS OFF 2020-21 CYCLE AT UEFA DEVELOPMENT TOURNAMENT IN ENGLAND
20-Player Roster Heads to St. George’s Park to Face Spain, England and Denmark

CHICAGO (Feb. 13, 2020)—The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team will hold its first training camp of the 2020-21 cycle at a UEFA Development Tournament at St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent, England. There, the USA will play Spain on Wednesday, Feb. 19, England on Friday, Feb. 21 and Denmark on Monday, Feb. 24. Larry Sunderland, Director of Player Development at FC Cincinnati, will coach the U-17 USMNT at the competition.


A total of 20 players, all born in 2004, will represent the U.S. at the tournament. Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2004 are age-eligible for the 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup.


Seven players were a part of the U.S. team at the 2019 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship, where the USA reached the semifinals. Sixteen of 20 players have spent at least one season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

The U.S. U-16 Girls’ National Team will compete in a UEFA Development Tournament during the same timeframe, also against Denmark, England and Spain. Neither tournament’s games will be streamed/available to watch online.


Roster Notes:

  • Seventeen clubs are represented on the roster, with 15 players based domestically and five playing abroad in Spain (two), France, Netherlands and Mexico (one each).
  • Two players each come from Atlanta United FC, Inter Miami CF and Real Salt Lake.
  • Midfielder Zach Booth is the younger brother of Taylor Booth, who represented the USA at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
