Real Monarchs Sign Forward Dayonn Harris

HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, February 10, 2020) – Real Monarchs have signed forward Dayonn Harris for the 2020 season, the club announced today. Harris’ signing is pending league and federation approval and the receipt of his visa.

“Dayonn is a dynamic winger who’s first instinct is to create chances for others,” RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. “He was a prolific talisman at UConn, and we think his skills will translate seamlessly to the USL Championship. He provides something different than any other winger we currently have at the club, and we can’t wait to see him on the pitch for the Monarchs in 2020.”

Harris, 22, was selected 20th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Harris played two full seasons at the University of Connecticut after taking a medical redshirt in his junior season in 2017. The Huskies alumni totaled seven goals and 16 assists in 38 matches, including nine assists during his senior season, ranking 10th in NCAA Division 1 in 2019. Previously, Harris played two seasons at Penn State where he tallied four goals and two assists in 24 matches. The Milton, Ontario, Canada native has experience with the Canadian Youth National Teams, most recently playing with the U-20s in 2017.

Real Monarchs finished the 2019 season having won its first USL Championship Title after finishing 4th in the Western Conference at 16-10-8 (56 points). The Monarchs begins their title defense on the road against San Antonio FC on March 7 before returning to Zions Bank Stadium to begin its Four-Corners Cup defense against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. MT.
