Press, Sauerbrunn, O’Hara Aim to Help USWNT Qualify for Seventh-Straight Olympic Games

Utah Royals FC
trio of U.S. Women’s National Team veterans
Christen Press
,
Kelley O’Hara
and
Becky Sauerbrunn
, have been selected by Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski to represent the Red, White and Blue in their quest to qualify for the team’s seventh-straight Olympic Games.
The USA opens the tournament, which will send its top two finishers to Japan, on Tuesday, January 28 against Haiti. The USA will then face Panama on Friday, January 31 before finishing Group A play against Costa Rica on Monday, February 3. All the U.S. group matches will kick off at 6:30 p.m. MT.
The team's round-robin matches will be played at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas. From there, the top two teams from each group will travel to Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California for the semifinal and championship match. The winners of each of the semifinal matches will automatically qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
O’Hara and Sauerbrunn are each attempting to qualify for their third Olympics and win their second gold medal, having won the tournament in the 2012 when the Games were held in London. Meanwhile, Press is hoping to make the roster for her second Olympic Games.
Across their USWNT careers, O’Hara has two goals and 17 assists in 125 appearances, Press has 51 goals and 31 assists in 130 matches and Sauerbrunn has seven assists in 171 appearances.
