SANDY, Utah – (Friday, October 4, 2019) – Utah Royals FC MF Gunny Jónsdóttirhas been named to the Iceland Women’s National Team ahead of two matches against France and Latvia during the FIFA international break.
“We wish Gunny the best of luck as she heads off to the Euro Qualifiers for Iceland,” General Manager Stephanie Lee said.
Iceland and Jónsdóttir will face France on Friday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. MT in Nimes. The squad will then continue their quest to qualify for their fourth-consecutive UEFA Women’s European Championship against Latvia on Tuesday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. MT.
Having already played two matches, Iceland leads Group F with wins over Hungary and Slovakia, a win over Latvia would guarantee qualification for the 2021 European Championship.
