Utah Royals FC Head Coach Laura Harvey

Overall thoughts on the game:

“Obviously we wanted to come for three and we felt that we could sit in a little bit, get them on the break, and I think you saw towards the end of the game we were a little bit dangerous. We probably respected them too much and let them play a little bit too much, but after the performance and the fight from the girls on Saturday we felt that we might just need to sit in a little bit. We’ll reflect on that, because I think maybe we should have gone for it more. But the biggest positive of the night is the clean sheet. Even though they had a lot of the ball there wasn’t too many shots on target, so I think we can take that as a positive. They’re a difficult team to play against because they move the ball really well. Yeah, a hard away stance that we’ve come away with seven points.”

On the team’s defense:

“Just defending really well in and around the 18-yard-box I think and we exposed ourselves a lot tonight, our defending in front wasn’t great, my fault really, the way we set ourselves up. I think that our backline and the way that we defend in our 18-yard-box is second to none.”

Utah Royals FC Midfielder Desiree Scott

Overall thoughts on the game:

“I think we had to defend a lot of that game, I thought we made it a point to keep that clean sheet and make sure we didn’t give them anything defensively, so there was a lot of shifting side to side a lot of work put in, but a gritty performance from us and we kept the clean sheet, which we can be proud of.”

On returning home after long road stretch:

“It’s gonna be great to go back home, it’s been a long road trip, it’s awesome that we took some points from these games, I think it’s important for playoff run and we’re gonna be looking forward to the RioT and our fans in our house.”
