Head Coach Laura Harvey
On the feeling of earning a point at Providence Park:

“Obviously you always want more than that, but I think for us coming here after a couple of really hard weeks for us, even though we got points at Sky Blue, we weren't happy with our performance and I said to the players this week ‘We can either play our game, come here and it’ll be really difficult for us, or we can accept the way they play and try and counteract it.’ I’ve just said to the players, every time we ask them to do something really tactical and a little bit different, North Carolina away, here, they buy into it and give absolutely everything to it. Could our quality have been a little bit better at times? Yes. But our work rate and putting bodies on the line - our defending, our grit - was second to none.”

On holding Portland scoreless:

“I think we wanted to reduce their space in behind. We think we did that. We wanted to try and force them to deliver early. I think we did that. I think there were a couple of times they got in, but I felt like we had some really good chances as well. I think the game was relatively even and I think we’re happy to come away with a point. Seattle and Portland were really difficult teams for us last year, coming here was brutal, so to come away with a point after what we went through last year is a positive. But we’ll look at it, because there’s still things we need to be a little bit better at.”

Forward Mallory Weber

On the importance of getting a point on the road:

“Especially at Providence Park, it’s hard for anybody to get a point and I think we all bought in and we gave everything. We walked away with a point and stuck to the game plan and it worked.”

On playing against her former team:
“That was fun, it was really fun playing against a former club, especially one who let you go and to come in and be able to kinda prove yourself was all I could ask for.”
