Real Salt Lake

RSL made it two consecutive wins and two straight matches with three goals in a 3-0 trouncing of Toronto FC on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium.  MF Damir Kreilach, FW Sebastian Saucedo and FW Jefferson Savarino each scored goals for RSL and GK Nick Rimando recorded his second shutout of the season, his 110th in an RSL uniform and 146th in his record-breaking MLS career.  The win keeps Salt Lake above the playoff line at 5-6-1 (16 points) this season.


RSL remains at home against Atlanta United on Friday night to start a stretch of three games in nine days.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live nationally on UniMas and locally on KMYU and streamed on the KSL TV app and KSLsports.com, with radio coverage on ESPN700.


On the international stage, GK David Ochoa will join the U.S. U-20 National Team in the first match of the Group Stage of the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland on Friday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. MT.


Utah Royals FC

Royals FC took to the road to face the North Carolina Courage and came away with a 1-1 draw against the defending NWSL champions.  FW Amy Rodriguez scored in her third consecutive match and GK Nicole Barnhart made two saves in earning the point on the road.  URFC currently sits second in the NWSL standings at 3-1-1 (10 points), just one point behind league-leading Chicago.


Royals FC returns home to face the Orlando Pride on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium.  Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT.


In the final tune-up for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, the U.S. National Team takes on Mexico on Sunday at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.  FW Christen Press, DF Becky Sauerbrunn and DF/FW Kelley O’Hara are with the U.S. and scheduled to kick off at 9:30 am MT with live television coverage on ESPN.  In addition, MF Desiree Scott and Canada will meet Spain on Friday in Spain at 11 a.m. MT and DF Katie Bowen joins New Zealand to face Mexico on Wednesday at noon MT at the Red Bulls Academy.  DF Rachel Corsie and Scotland will play a friendly against Jamaica on May 28 in Glasgow in its final preparations for the World Cup.


Real Monarchs SLC

The Monarchs got a stoppage-time goal from FW Tate Schmitt to earn a 1-1 draw on the road against OKC Energy FC on Saturday.  Along with Schmitt, GK Andrew Putna and MF Justin Portillo all played 90 minutes while on loan from Real Salt Lake and MF Pablo Ruiz added 10 minutes off the bench to help earn the road draw.  The Monarchs are 15th in the USL Championship Western Conference standings at 3-4-3 (12 points).


Real Monarchs return home to Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday to face Phoenix Rising FC at 8 p.m. MT. 


RSL Academy

The RSL Academy teams each wrapped up the 2018-19 USSDA regular season on Saturday with defeats to Pateadores.


The U-19s finished the regular season at 13-5-5 (44 points) after the 1-0 loss to close out the regular season.  RSL ended in second in the Southwest Division and holds the 14th playoff position.


The U-17s fell 3-1 to Pateadores, with Abel Mendoza scoring just after halftime to equalize at 1-1 before two goals in rapid succession put the game away for the visitors.  RSL is fifth in the Southwest Division at 12-8-3 (39 points) and holds the fifth Wild Card position in the postseason.


The teams await their playoff matchups this week.


RSL Foundation

It is a busy week for the RSL Foundation, starting on Tuesday as RSL MF Luke Mulholland, URFC FW Amy Rodriguez and more will be answering phones from 6-7 p.m. at the KSL Give-A-Thon.  The RSL Foundations will be matching donations up to $10,000 during that hour.  For more information, visit the link here.


On Wednesday, RSL GK Nick Rimando and FW Tate Schmitt are scheduled to visit the Boys and Girls Club in Sugarhouse from 3:45-5 p.m.


Friday will mark the first match of the season for the RSL Unified team, taking on Atlanta United Unified after the two MLS sides meet at Rio Tinto Stadium, serving as the kickoff the Soccer For All Program.  On Thursday, the two Unified teams will join together for a team dinner and tour of the Capitol building.
