Real Monarchs SLC (0-0-1, 1 point); El Paso Locomotive FC (0-1-0, 0 points)

Player to Watch – Forward Derek Gebhard proved to be dangerous in the Texas side’s attacking front. The 23-year-old put himself in the right place at the right time to put away El Paso’s first goal during its match against OKC Energy, and nearly found the second with a headed effort that ended just wide of the net. The Blue Hill, Maine native has already cemented himself in the Locos history, and look for him to try to do more of the same on Saturday.

History – Real Monarchs will host expansion side, El Paso Locomotive FC, in the debut match of the all-time series between the two. Both teams come into the match with a fresh slate and something to prove as El Paso aims for its first win in the regular season against a Monarchs that has built a fortress out of its home field of Zions Bank Stadium.

Last Five – With a single game under its belt, the Locos stand at a record of 0-1-0 after falling 3-1, in its inaugural game against OKC Energy FC. Despite the result, El Paso looked strong, outshooting and out possessing its opposition. Prior to the start of the season, El Paso played in a series of matches which saw mixed results in the forms of wins against FC Juarez and FC Grande, before closing out preseason with a scoreless draw with San Antonio FC.
