URFC Players Loaned to Australian Westfield W-League Conclude the Regular Season

Utah Royals FC defender Sam Johnson and the Melbourne Victory, claimed the Westfield W-League Premier’s Plate last Friday. The Westfield W-League in Australia, is concluding its season as Melbourne Victory will face number four, Perth Glory in the Semi Final of the W-League Finals Series.


Johnson started all 11 of her match appearances with Melbourne Victory and helped the team to a 7-3-2 regular season record to earn league’s top spot. Melbourne Victory defeated Perth Glory for the Premier’s Plate, but the two will battle again in the semifinal Saturday, February 9th. Melbourne Victory is making its first Westfield W-League Finals Series appearance since 2014. 

URFC Players Loaned to Australian Westfield W-League Conclude the Regular Season  -

After clinching the plate and a place in the semifinal last Friday, Melbourne Victory went into its last regular season game against Canberra United today. URFC defender Rachel Corsie, wore the captain armband for Canberra United where it ended its season in a 0-0 draw against Melbourne Victory. Corsie concluded her first campaign in the league and was named the club's 2018-19 Player of the Year on Thursday.

URFC Players Loaned to Australian Westfield W-League Conclude the Regular Season  -

‘Gunny’Jónsdóttir, Sydney Miramontez, and Lo’eau LaBonta also finished their Westfield W-league season campaign, all just shy of a playoff spot. Jónsdóttir started all 11 of her match appearances, contributing two assists and one goal for Adelaide United. Miramontez started all 11 of her match appearances and teammate LaBonta started all nine of her match appearances, including one assist for the Western Sydney Wanderers.   


Johnson, Corsie, Jónsdóttir, Miramontez, and LaBonta will return to URFC prior to the commencement of the 2019 NWSL preseason.
