URFC Signs Veronica Boquete

Last Friday, URFC announced the signing of attacking midfielder, Veronica Boquete. Boquete will add depth to the URFC roster when international team members depart for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup held this summer. 
Boquete returns to the United States, previously playing for the Chicago Red Stars in the WPSL (2010), the Philadelphia Independence in the WPS (2011-12), where she earned WPS Player of the Year honors in 2011. Now, Boquete returns to the NWSL after playing with the Portland Thorns in 2014.
In between Boquete’s time in the U.S., she earned championships in Spain (2009), Sweden (2012), and Germany (2015-16), as well as the UEFA Women’s Championship with FFC Frankfurt in 2014-15. 

URFC Signs Veronica Boquete  -

URFC FW Christen Press, adds a familiar face as Boquete and Press were teammates at Tyresö FF from 2013-14. Boquete reached out to Press regarding URFC and moving to Utah. With positive insight, Boquete and Press will officially play as teammates once again. 
Boquete is a veteran for the Spanish National Team and served as captain in the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championship, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, and won the 2017 Algarve Cup. 
The World Cup dates are set for June 7th, –July 7th, 2019. USWNT players will be unavailable as early as April 29th, for training camp. URFC players expected to be called-up to the following teams for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup include: 

United States: DF Becky Sauerbrunn, DF Kelley O’Hara, FW Christen Press


Canada: MF Desiree Scott, MF Diana Matheson


Scotland: DF Rachel Corsie


New Zealand: DF Katie Bowen 


International team members will return to URFC prior to the end of the NWSL season. The full 2019 NWSL schedule is anticipated to be revealed in the coming weeks.
