SANDY, Utah (Saturday, November 10, 2018) – Real Salt Lake looks to close out its Western Conference Semifinal series against Sporting Kansas City with a win or a draw on Sunday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. MT. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN as Head Coach Mike Petke leads his side into Children’s Mercy Park looking to extend the club’s ninth postseason appearance in the club’s 14 seasons in Major League Soccer. A win will see RSL advance to the Western Conference Final to face the Portland Timbers in a two-match series beginning on November 25, as will a draw where both teams score two or more goals.
Sunday’s match will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN, with local radio coverage on ESPN 700 starting at 1:00 p.m. MT.
In leg one, RSL and SKC played to a spirited 1-1 draw at Rio Tinto Stadium in a match that saw MF Albert Rusnák open the scoring with a world-class strike in the 51st minute before Sporting’s Diego Rubio leveled the affair in the 60th minute. In leg two, RSL will be without Rusnák due to yellow card accumulation.
This will be the fifth meeting of the season between the two clubs, with RSL winning 4-2 at home on July 4 at Rio Tinto Stadium and playing to a 1-1 draw at Children’s Mercy Park on September 30 prior to last Sunday’s draw. Real Salt Lake aims to build on its 4-3 all-time record in Conference Semifinal series since 2008, a record that has seen the club advance to the Conference Final on four occasions, and MLS Cup on two occasions.
