Six URFC Players are Loaned to Australian Westfield W-League

During the NWSL offseason, six Utah Royals FC players are on loan in Australia’s Westfield W-League. FW Lo’eau LaBonta, DF Sydney Miramontez, FW Katie Stengel, DF Samantha Johnson, DF Rachel Corsie, and MF Gunnhildur ‘Gunny’ Jónsdóttir are all playing down under in the top division women’s soccer league in Australia.

Six URFC Players are Loaned to Australian Westfield W-League  -

The players are sent on loan to the following teams:


  • Lo’eau LaBonta — Western Sydeny Wanderers
  • Sydney Miramontez — Western Sydney Wanderers
  • Katie Stengel — Newcastle Jets  
  • Samantha Johnson — Melbourne Victory
  • Rachel Corsie — Canberra United
  • Gunnhildur ‘Gunny’ Jónsdóttir — Adelaide United


Wanderers:


LaBonta returns to Australia with the Western Sydney Wanderers for her second season. During the 2017 offseason, LaBonta played in 12 matches with the Wanderers.

Jets:


Stengel is returning to the Newcastle Jets. While on loan last season, Stengel played in all 13 matches, and led the Jets to the Westfield W-League semi-final. Stengel finished with 10 goals, placing her second in the league for goals scored.

Melbourne:


Johnson enters her second season with Melbourne Victory. While on loan last season, Johnson played with Melbourne Victory and appeared in 11 matches.


New additions: 


Miramontez, Corsie, and Jónsdóttir are debuting in Australia’s W-League. Miramontez is joining teammate Lo’eau LaBonta with the Western Sydney Wanderers. Corsie is playing with Canberra United, and Jónsdóttir is appearing with Adelaide United.


The W-League will kick off the season this week. All players will return to URFC prior to the 2019 NWSL season.
