Here’s the thing, during the course of the season a handful of golden social opportunities present themselves.
When these giant rays of sunshine come blistering into our orbit, the digital team writes up mock posts, saves them as drafts & then immediately starts praying to the old gods & the new.
Contrary to popular belief, the Twitter account doesn’t control the results on the field. Or the lineup. And, no. Craig Waibel & Mike Petke don’t run the Facebook page.
Sometimes, the results don’t go our way & the perfect IG caption enters Team Awesome’s personal funeral home for unseen gold.
But when the results DO pan out, boy-oh-boy are things wonderful!
As a matter of fact, when a post “hits” & you start to see the notifications fly, life is as perfect as it gets for us SMS folk.
One of my favorite moments from 2018 just so happen to come at the expense of our favorite enemies.
When they were brazen enough to quote tweet us, I squealed with joy.
“OMG!!! THIS IS PERFECT!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WIN TONIGHT, LADS!” ran through my head approximately 43875934652908390937526 times the next 8 hours.
When Bofo extended the lead right before halftime, a sense of calm & pride washed over me.
We got ‘em.
I could hardly wait for the final whistle to hit send:
Seeing it all again makes me so incredibly happy.
Sometimes you just know.
So big-ups to whoever was in control of the powder blue account that day.
You made my summer.
