Real Monarchs SLC Quote Sheet: 8/8/18 -

Jamison Olave
On nine straight wins at homes:
“We feel that the Zions Bank Stadium is our new home since the first game that we played here. We have to win and give everything to win here.”
On Reno’s second half surge:

“The win was great, I think that Reno was able to get a couple of opportunities in the game because with the four we put in the game. We tried to press them from the beginning and did a great job with trying to force them to play long. We got tired in the end and that’s why we ended defending in our box.”

On the team’s two goals:

“We tied the game early, but they scored a great goal. Since we tied the game early that gave the boost to the team to keep going and believing in what they did good and what are they good at and we scored the second on to win the game.”

Midfielder Charlie Adams
On his goal:

“I just remember it coming to Chandler Hoffman and him doing a terrific set and screening the guy and then me tucking it away in the bottom right corner. It just shows the response of the team and the quality that we have, also the heart that we have you know and the commitment to react in a way like that. We went down a couple of weeks ago against San Antonio and it was the wrong response and this week was the right response.”

On the momentum after his goal:

“It was just stick to the game plan, stick to what we what we have done for the last couple of weeks. And that was pressing very high, high intensity when we get the ball and then we break fast and I feel that is where our goals came from. The second goal was a tremendous goal where we played some nice stuff down the right side, I then slipped the ball to Adam and then he cut it back to Chang and then he put it away. It just shows the quality that we have and that was the game plan.”

Reno 1868 FC
Head Coach Ian Russell
On the team’s second straight loss:

“We played a really bad first-half, a lot of guys didn’t show up to play against a team that is first place, and you cannot do that. So, the second-half we played excellent and should’ve maybe got a couple of goals, hit the cross-bar post and one cleared off the line so we had three really big chances.”

On the chances created:

Definitely, we have had a really weird schedule for us, nine games in May. Nine games in twenty-seven days, and we have had two games in thirty-one days. So obviously and hopefully that changes next year where the league can kind of organize a little bit better because it is definitely hard to stay game sharp when you have big breaks like that.”

On Brown’s ninth goal:

“Brian has been excellent, super happy for Brian. He is a guy that has worked extremely hard to get fit and he is working extremely hard in the games and it shows. He is a menace and I don’t think many center backs want to play against him. So, I am very pleased he looks fit and he looks sharp, so I am happy for him.”

On the missed opportunities:

“Well, it’s a lot better to have a lot of opportunities than to not have them. The positive part is that we created opportunities, but the negative part is that we didn’t score enough. As long as we are creating chances we will get some wins.”

Forward Brian Brown
On his 9th goal of the season:

It was a great goal to score for me because it is always a plus to get on the score sheet. It is unlucky that we did not get the win or the tie tonight and it is disappointing, a back to back loss, but we played against a really good team. They are number one in the seed, but they are hard to beat, and hard to play so we just got to go back to the drawing board and hopefully get the three points the next game.”

On the missed opportunities:

“We have to strike first, myself, Antoine, Mark, and Danny. We created chances and we have good finishers on the team. So, there is no doubt that we cannot create chances every game, but it’s just unlucky that we didn’t capitalize.”

On the positive aspects:

“I mean like I said the first-half was bad and we just came out the second-half running and decided we have to work in order to beat this team. We said that we needed to come out and play our game and hopefully we can get a point or win, but it is unlucky that we didn’t get a result tonight. Hands down to them. They are a good team and they are tough team to beat.”
