HERRIMAN, UTAH (Saturday, July 14, 2018) â€“ Real Monarchs SLC (13-4-2, 41 points, 1 West) returned to winning ways by earning a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday night at Zions Bank Stadium. Goals from MF Charlie Adams and MF Sebastian Velasquez helped the club seal the victory on a hot evening in Herriman. The win sees Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave's side remain undefeated on home soil this season.

As the Monarchs felt out the match in the first half, physical play ensued before Adams broke the deadlock after 27 minutes when his rebounded effort easily found the back of the net. The Monarchs would register several more chances in the opening half but couldn’t find a second goal before the interval.

In the second half, the Monarchs took control of the game in an effort to find a second goal. The goal came when a perfect entry ball into the box from DF James Moberg found the feet of Velasquez who took a touch to open up space to shoot before he found the bottom corner of the net. The match became heated near the end of the second half as frustrations boiled over from the S2 side that stays winless on the road this season. Despite the extracurriculars, the Monarchs held on for the victory to earn its 10th shutout of the season.

UP NEXT: The Monarchs head back to the road this time for a date with San Antonio FC on July 21st. Kick off from Toyota Field is set for 6:30 p.m. MT.

GOAL SCORING RUNDOWN:

SLC: Charlie Adams, 27th minute: A well timed run and ball played low across the face of the box forced the Seattle goalkeeper into parrying the ball out into the middle of the area. Adams read the rebound well, running onto the ball to slam it home with one touch for his second of the year.

SLC: Sebastian Velasquez (James Moberg), 70th minute: Near the top of the box, Moberg played an entry ball into the path of Velasquez who did well to hold off a defender and control the pass. Velasquez turned and fired a right footed effort into the bottom corner of the net to double the Monarchs advantage.

NOTES:
- The Monarchs have now earned 10 shutouts in 2018 and currently sit second place in the league behind Pittsburgh in the category.

- DF Konrad Plewa made his first start for the Monarchs in the win to help the club to its 10th shutout on the year.

- Monarchs remain undefeated at home this season, now owning an 8-0-1 record in nine home matches played this year.
