Last Saturday, June 23, Utah Royals FC lost to the Chicago Red Stars 2-0 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. The Utah side played well in the first-half, registering a majority of the possession and passing, but second-half goals from the Stars gave Chicago the three points.  Did the Royals road cost them in the league power rankings? “After earning a No. 2 spot in the Week 11/12 power rankings, Utah Royals FC drop to fifth place in the rankings after falling to the Red Stars 2-0 in Week 13. Utah falls just behind the Red Stars for sixth place in the league standings. Utah is 4-3-5 overall with 17 points. Utah will return home on Wednesday to host Seattle Reign FC and then will host Sky Blue on Saturday. New Utah forward Christen Press and defender Sam Johnson, who were acquired in a trade with the Red Stars and Dash last week, did not appear in Saturday’s game, but could make their debut on Wednesday night.”
URFC will now have a quick turn-around, returning home to play against Seattle Reign FC at Rio Tinto stadium on Wednesday, June 23.
