Last Saturday, June 16, Utah Royals FC beat the undefeated N.C. Courage 1-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park, with FW Brittany Ratcliffe claiming the game-winning goal in the 94th minute. The match was an exhausting one – heat and humidity against a dangerous N.C. attack made for 95 minutes of exciting soccer and suspenseful moments. In the final minutes of stoppage time, Courage DF Jaelene Hinkle trapped the ball on top of the box, only to have it stripped away from a perfectly-timed Ratcliffe tackle. This stunning play allowed the Utah side to topple the reigning Courage, but was it enough to move them in the power rankings? Check out the report for week 12 and share your thoughts below.
