Thoughts on the match:
“The atmosphere is always pretty special here in Portland. I thought we played pretty well, and that we dominated possession for a majority of the first and second half, but unfortunately we couldn’t put the goals in.”
On the rough match:
“It’s always hard coming to their [Portland] ground and playing in front of all their fans – it is a tough atmosphere to play in – but every team has to do it, and we prepared for it. I thought we played well for some patches, but unfortunately we didn’t get the goals.”
On rebounding from the two goal deficit:
“We responded by dominating possession back off of them. They didn’t have many chances in the second half, and we created quite a few – like A-Rod had two amazing shots that just missed by a couple of centimeters – so I know we will work hard at training this week and come out hard against New Jersey.”

On responding to the two goals:
“I think we felt that we limited them to chances – so it was unfortunate to be two down. It’s a hard place to come, and it’s difficult to give them that advantage. I felt that in the second half we applied the pressure, but disappointing that we couldn’t pull ourselves back into the game.”
On the physical play:
“I think most games are physical. It’s something that if teams want to play, then we are going to play – if teams want to make it a battle, then we’re going to make it a battle. We want to raise our game and be good enough in all aspects, and today, when it came to physicality, we knew we were good enough. Today, perhaps we lost too many individual battles, and that may have constituted for not being able to get a goal and get back into the game.”
On playing in Portland:
“A lot of players love to come here because the club does a great job of filling the stadium, and as a player, you want to play in front of big crowds. I personally have always enjoyed coming here – I don’t enjoy getting beat here – but the fans are passionate, and we’re glad that we have that back in our home stadium. Hopefully we can build something like this and keep it going and become a crowd competitor to a team like Portland.
On the upcoming week of training and game prep:
“We have to bounce back and pick ourselves up. I feel that there were a lot of positives from today, despite the result. We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves – we have another road game, and they are always tough – so we need to get back to being difficult to beat and taking our chances.”
