RSL Academy to compete in inaugural LA Galaxy Cup

The Real Salt Lake Academy announced today it will be featuring in the inaugural LA Galaxy Cup along with three other MLS sides including hosts LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles Football Club. The LA Galaxy’s first-ever international tournament will showcase both Boys’ and Girls’ Development Academy Club teams from the U-12s through the U-19 level and will also feature international clubs such as Manchester United, Swansea City A.F.C. and Portugal’s FC Porto among others from around the globe.

The tournament is set to be held from Wednesday, March 28 through Sunday, April 1 at Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. Home to the United Soccer League’s Orange County SC, the Great Park boasts a soccer-specific stadium to host the tournament’s top matches along with 18 fields, providing the players and spectators a premier setting to witness some of the world’s top young talent.

In the midst of a successful start to its U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, the RSL Academy will use the tournament as another opportunity to learn and grow as players against top talent in a busy spring 2018 season –  a spring that includes the Generation adidas Cup, Dallas Cup and the remainder of its regular season matches.

The RSL Academy sides continue to prepare for its first match in over a month when it plays host to Santa Cruz Breakers Academy on January 20 at the Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman. The U-17s will open proceedings after the holiday break at 11:00 a.m. MT with the U-19s following at 1:30 p.m. MT. Admission is free and fans are strongly encouraged to attend.
