Real Salt Lake Owner Dell Loy Hansen Opens First of Eight Youth Academy Training Centers

SANDY/LOGAN, Utah (Monday, December 4, 2017) – Real Salt Lake owner Dell Loy Hansen – joined by RSL MF Luke Mulholland, DF Justen Glad, North Logan City Mayor Lloyd Berentzen, Real Youth Academy President Jake Haueter and RSL Youth Academy Technical Director Will Rader – announced today that the club's North Logan Regional Training Facility is now officially open following today's ribbon-cutting ceremony. Providing a location for players, coaches, referees, clubs and individuals from Cache Valley and beyond the opportunity to gather and engage for training and learning opportunities, the facility is the first of eight planned satellite training facilities across Utah and Arizona.

"Today marks yet another special day for the RSL family in 2017, as we continue to proudly grow the sport in our great State of Utah," Hansen said, recognizing that the last nine months have included the arrival of MF Albert Rusnák, the hiring of RSL boss Mike Petke , five RSL Academy players on a 21-player roster to win the CONCACAF Under-20 tourney and advance to the FIFA World Youth Championship quarterfinals, a Rio Tinto Stadium exhibition against world power Manchester United, a regular-season USL title for Real Monarchs, the creation of the RSL Academy High School for our previously Arizona-based U-19 and U-17 Academy teams, and the formation of the NWSL Utah Royals FC, to name just a few milestones. "This facility – and the others like it in the pipeline – provide boys and girls in our community the opportunity to get time on the ball and hone their skills in a world-class facility in beautiful North Logan. Those who excel and advance will have the chance to matriculate to our new Zions Bank Real Academy home in Herriman, which will soon open for RSL and the Monarchs in January."

The $6 million, privately-funded North Logan Regional Training Facility is equipped with a regulation-size indoor field and is situated proximate to an outdoor pitch at Meadow View Park, the resources available to the public to be used to facilitate time on the ball for youth players aged 7-14 years old. Future regional training center locations are planned to be built in the next four-to-five years along the Wasatch Front in Utah, from Logan in the north to St. George in the southern edge of the state, as well as a pair of Arizona locations proximate to both Phoenix and Tucson. The facility will also provide rental opportunities for local youth clubs in Cache County and surrounding areas to train as well as opportunities for local adult leagues to be hosted throughout the year. Additionally, one regulation size outdoor field is slated to be constructed at a later date just east of the facility to be used for the same purposes.
