Velasquez named to USL Team of the Week

Real Monarchs SLC FW Sebastian Velasquez earned himself a spot on the USL Team of the Week for Week 30 as he helped the Monarchs topple LA Galaxy II in the final regular season match of the year. With his goal on Saturday, Velasquez finished the regular season with nine goals and six assists, placing him second in goals and third in assists on the team this year.

Here is what the USL had to say about the Monarchs midfielder after Week 30:

“Velasquez scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Monarchs in a 2-1 win against the LA Galaxy II and completed 43 of 48 passes while winning 6 of 9 duels.”

Joining Velasquez on the Week 30 Team of the Week were GK Odisnel Cooper (Charleston Battery); defenders Jordan Burt (Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC), Tarek Morad (Louisville City FC), Darnell King (Tampa Bay Rowdies); Sebastian Velasquez (Real Monarchs SLC), Kenardo Forbes (Rochester Rhinos), Kenney Walker (FC Cincinnati), Kevaughn Frater (Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC); forwards Jose Angulo (Oklahoma City Energy FC), Didier Drogba (Phoenix Rising FC and Ever Guzman (San Antonio FC).
