SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, July 17, 2012) – Real Salt Lake announced on Tuesday that it is sending FW Paulo Jr. on a short-term loan to the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers of the second-division NASL.

“Paulo is a solid player,” said RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey. “We think that this brief loan spell to Ft. Lauderdale – where he played before – will allow him to score some goals and bring him back to RSL sharper than ever.”

The 23-year-old Paulo has one goal and one assist in 14 MLS appearances this year. He started the first five games of the season but has seen his playing time taper off since, starting just three games and playing just 244 minutes in league play since April 4.

Paulo played for Ft. Lauderdale – then known as Miami FC – from May 2009 until September 2010, at which point he was sent on loan to RSL through the end of the 2010 MLS season. Having enjoyed a successful initial loan spell, Paulo was brought back by RSL on-loan for the entire 2011 season. Paulo played well in 2011 and was rewarded in February 2012, when RSL exercised its option to purchase the Brazilian forward, signing him to a contract through the 2014 season.
