Rio Tinto Presents Rematch of 2010 Western Conference
Semifinals at Rio Tinto Stadium
SANDY, Utah (Friday, July 8, 2011) – The busy home slate for Real Salt Lake (7-3-6, 27 pts.; 4th in West) this summer will continue this Saturday, July 9, when the Utah side will play host to FC Dallas (10-4-4, 34 pts.; 2nd in West) in a rematch of their 2010 Western Conference Semifinal playoff series. Saturday’s clash between the pair of Western Conference powers will be presented by Rio Tinto, with kickoff at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy set for 7:00 p.m. MT.
Tickets for this massive Western Conference matchup remain available and can be purchased in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office weekdays from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. MT and on gameday beginning at 10:00 a.m., over the phone at 801-727-2700 or online at www.RealSaltLake.com.
Carnival Real Starts
Kicking at 5:00 for Saturday’s Contest
Fans and families are encouraged to arrive early for Saturday’s match against FC Dallas, as good times and giveaways will be available for the taking at the Carnival Real pre-game festival on the East Lawn of Rio Tinto Stadium, starting at 5:00 p.m. MT. Booths and displays will be hosted by several of RSL’s partners, including:
Burger King (“Whopper Hopper” inflatable and Prize Wheel), Check City, Comcast, the FBI National Child Identification Program, Ford, Kentucky Fried Chicken (Chuckin’ for Chicken), Mountain America Credit Union, State Farm, Wasatch Property, and XanGo (free samples).
When Rio Tinto Stadium’s gates open to the public at 6:00 p.m., fans will also have the opportunity to visit the Comcast and Utah Department of Public Safety (Designated Driver/Responsibility Has Its Rewards sign-up) booths, both located on the northeast concourse. In addition, fans will be able to chime in with their two cents during the ESPN 700Pre-game Show and visit the RSL Ticketing booth to find out the best ways to keep visiting the best park in Major League Soccer throughout the remainder of RSL’s 2011 campaign.

C. R. Oldham to Be Honored as Saturday’s RSL/American Express
“Hero Among Us”
Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize C. R. Oldham of Layton, Utah, as Saturday’s recipient of the “Heroes Among Us” honor. In 2008, after losing his own daughter to cancer, C. R. quit his job, sold his house and moved his family to Layton in order to start a HopeKids Chapter, where children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases can find hope for the future. Originally charged with aiding 30 children by providing them with fun activities and events to look forward to, C. R. is now the Executive Director of HopeKids SLC and caters to four hundred kids throughout the Utah region, making the world a brighter place for struggling families by providing these children with hope for the future. For this much-needed service to the community, Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize C. R. Oldham as Saturday’s “Hero Among Us.”
