The Real Salt Lake Academy U17s began MLS NEXT Flex play Saturday afternoon in a dominant fashion, defeating LA Surf SC 4-0. Goalkeeper Blake Kelly earned his first clean sheet of the competition to help secure the team’s place on top of the group after day one.

The U17s controlled play on the attacking end with four different players finding the back of the net in the team’s first match at full strength since the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup. Midfielder Izzy Amparo kicked off the commanding performance for RSL finding his fourth goal in the last six matches. RSL Homegrown Axel Kei followed up with his first goal since returning from injury to extend the lead to 2-0.

Forward Jaden Jackson scored the third goal followed by Real Monarchs’ striker Terron Williams who netted the final goal of the match to secure the 4-0 shutout over the Southern California squad.

Up Next: The U17s will look to build off this performance when they face Sporting Kansas City tomorrow, May 15 at 1:00 p.m. MT for game two of MLS NEXT Flex.
