Two with RSL ties included on U.S. U-18s for Copa Chivas Tournament in Mexico

Real Salt Lake and the Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy are proud to announce that two of their players will be involved in U.S. U-18 National Team’s efforts in the 2015 Copa Chivas Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico.


RSL forward Sebastian Saucedo and RSL-AZ forward Brooks Lennon were both included in Head Coach Javier Perez’s 20-man roster for the tournament, which starts on Friday.


This is the first competition of the new year of the new year for the U.S. U-18s.  The U.S. opens its Group A stage of Copa Chivas against Monarcas Morelia on Friday at 11 a.m. MT.  They will then face Cruzeiro Esporte Clube on Saturday (8 a.m. MT), Club Tijuana on Feb. 2 (8 a.m. MT) and Club Deportivo Universidad Católica on Feb. 3 (8 a.m.).


The top eight seeds advance to the tournament’s quarterfinal stage, which begins Feb. 5.  That is followed by the semifinals on Feb. 6 and the title game on Feb. 7.  The tournament features three groups of five teams, including Academy teams from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Japan, as well as the U-18s from FC Dallas.


After Copa Chivas, the U-18s will compete in the 2015 Slovakia Cup in late April.
