A Timeline of Kyle Beckerman's Record-Breaking MLS Career

On Saturday, Real Salt Lake midfielder and captain Kyle Beckerman surpassed Steve Ralston to become the all-time leader in MLS regular season appearances among field players with 379 matches.  Here is a look back on some of his milestone moments along the way.


July 15, 2000 – Beckerman makes his MLS debut, coming on as a second-half sub for the Miami Fusion in a 3-0 loss to the Dallas Burn at Lockhart Stadium.


October 8, 2005 – Beckerman plays his 100th career MLS match in a 0-0 draw for the Colorado Rapids against FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park.


July 28, 2007 – Beckerman makes his Real Salt Lake debut after a trade from the Rapids.  RSL lost that match 2-1 to the New England Revolution at Rice-Eccles Stadium.  It was his 149th career MLS appearance.


May 6, 2009 – Beckerman makes his 200th MLS appearance, starting at Rio Tinto Stadium in a 2-2 draw between Real Salt Lake and the LA Galaxy.


September 26, 2009 – Steve Ralston plays his 378th and final MLS match in a 2-1 win for the New England Revolution.  At that time, Beckerman had played 215 games in his career.


March 3, 2013 – Real Salt Lake opens the 2013 season with a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium for Beckerman’s 300th career MLS appearance.  Beckerman assisted Alvaro Saborio’s second goal of the match in the 85th minute to seal the victory.


May 30, 2015 – Beckerman passes former RSL forward Jeff Cunningham into second place on the all-time appearance list with his 366th MLS match.


October 17, 2015 – There is a new iron man in MLS as Beckerman makes his 379th career appearance to pass Ralston on the all-time list for field players.  Only goalkeepers Kevin Hartman (416) and Nick Rimando (394) have more career matches than Beckerman.
