Is there a state that has more fun in the snow than Utah?

If you want an ode to the Utah spirit, it was written by the RSL supporters this weekend - packed together at the Riot -refusing to be denied by successive threats of wind, lightning or snow.

It was only fitting that the Club’s new “Peak Utah” kit debuted in this weather. The Wasatch range behind America First Field was barely visible but its presence was felt by all on Saturday.

The lifeblood of this Club and this great State can be found in the fans in the stands who withstood a near blizzard, only to make snow angels on the field after full-time.

It was epitomized in 21-year-old Andrés Gómez joyfully playing soccer in the snow for the first time ever, and then becoming the youngest player in the Club's 20-year history to record three goal contributions in a single match.

It can be found in Kyle Schroeder, RSL’s Director Of Community Engagement, repeatedly crossing the pitch to shovel sidelines, touch lines, 18- and 6-yard box lines. All with a smile, frozen on his face.

Truth be told, it could be found all over America First Field on Saturday, between supporters, staff and players.

Thank you fans, whether you watched the match this weekend on a screen or in the stands.

This is your Club, and Real Salt Lake will always strive to be a Club that represents our community. We hope you saw a bit of yourself on the field today, just like we saw a bit of ourselves in the stands.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Riot next weekend when we play that other team across the Rockies. We hope you join us. Get your tickets here

Yours always,

Real Salt Lake
