Nick Rimando didn’t have much to do on Saturday in a 1-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo, but his lone save was a spectacular one and it is nominated for MLS Save of the Week.
It came in the 86th minute as Will Bruin got away from the Salt Lake defense while RSL was pressed forward looking for an equalizer. After getting around Jamison Olave, Bruin burst toward the goal, going 1v1 with Rimando. With the goalkeeper closing in, Bruin tried to shoot under Rimando, but the “Wall of the Wasatch” made the save to keep the match at 1-0.
RSL wasn’t able to connect on the equalizer in the match, but Rimando’s save kept things interesting until the last kick of the ball.
