Saturday was a historic night at Rio Tinto Stadium as Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando broke the all-time MLS wins record, earning his 181st career victory in a 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire. It’s only fitting that the match would end with Rimando making a pair of stellar saves, blocking shots from Nick LaBrocca in stoppage time.
On the play, the ball got played into LaBrocca at the penalty spot and he cracked a header that forced Rimando into a pointblank save. The rebound came right back to LaBrocca, who took a touch to his right before smashing a second effort that Rimando again blocked, this time with his lead leg while diving to his left.
