Save of the Week: Rimando Comes from Nowhere Against SKC

Sometimes Nick Rimando seems like a super hero in net for Real Salt Lake.  Saturday, one such instance occurred when he flew to his left to intercept a rocket shot off the boot of Benny Feilhaber in the 37th minute, earning him a nomination for MLSsoccer.com’s Save of the Week.

Off a Sporting Kansas City corner kick, RSL got the initial clearance, but only as far as Feilhaber from 22 yards out.  The SKC midfielder charged on a shot that was bound for the inside of the far post, but – despite heavy traffic in front of him – Rimando sprung to his left and speared the ball out of the air, knocking it clear for one of three saves on the night to earn a 3-1 win.

With RSL leading 1-0 at the time, it allowed Salt Lake to add to the lead before halftime, taking control of the match.
