In celebration of Juneteenth, Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC continue to honor Black history, culture, and freedom through club and community engagement across the state of Utah.
This year, Utah Royals FC will host its official Juneteenth match on Saturday, June 21, when the Club welcomes Seattle Reign FC to Sandy. In a powerful moment of reflection and celebration, Bri Ray Aupiu will perform the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” during pregame ceremonies.
At halftime, the Club will recognize members of the community through two unique celebrations — a local refugee soccer tournament and newly sworn-in U.S. citizens, reinforcing the inclusive spirit of the Juneteenth holiday.
Over the past week, Club mascot Leo the Lion made an appearance at the South Salt Lake Juneteenth BBQ, bringing joy to families at the community celebration. On Wednesday June 18, Utah Royals defender Imani Dorsey joined the Millcreek Juneteenth Celebration at Millcreek Commons. RSL and URFC mascots Leo and Cleo will take part in the Salt Lake City Juneteenth Festival on Thursday, June 19.
By actively participating in events across the Wasatch Front, Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC reaffirm their commitment to equity, representation, and community empowerment as part of their broader mission to foster inclusion through the power of sport.
