SANDY, Utah (Friday, August 10, 2018) – Real Salt Lake (10-9-4, 34 pts., 6th West) remains home Saturday against Montreal (9-13-2, 24 pts., 5th East), with an 8:00 p.m. MT kickoff against the visiting Impact in a game critical to the club’s postseason aspirations. Saturday’s MLS contest is the second event of the day at Rio Tinto Stadium, as Utah Royals FC host Seattle Reign FC at 1:30 p.m. MT in the NWSL Lifetime Game of the Week earlier in the day.
RSL Head Coach Mike Petke’s team – with an 11-game unbeaten run at home and an overall 2018 mark of 9-1-2 in Sandy (outscoring opponents 24-10), losing only the season opener on March 10 to LAFC – welcome a Montreal side that is winless in three previous visits to the RioT (0-3-0) since 2012. Following Saturday’s match, RSL travels for five of its next seven regular-season contests, kicking off a three-game road run Wednesday at LAFC (8:00 p.m. MT, ESPN2) before facing Houston and Colorado away the next two Saturdays, prior to Zlatan’s inaugural Utah visit on Sat., Sept. 1 (tickets available atwww.RSL.com/tickets).
In last week’s 2-1 home win over the Chicago Fire, RSL saw goals in each half from MF Damir Kreilach, with assists from FW Jefferson Savarino and FW Joao Plata. Kreilach’s brace – which moved him into the club’s 2018 “Golden Boot” lead with six goals and six assists on the year thus far – improved RSL to an 18-5-5 home mark in MLS action during the Petke era. Overall, the club has enjoyed a prominent home-field advantage since October, 2008, boasting a dominant 115-28-47 mark at Rio Tinto Stadium.
