FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, April 12, 2022) — The Real Salt Lake Academy U15s will start the knockout round of the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup against Austin FC tonight at 8:00 p.m MT.
The U15s joined LAFC as one of two teams to win all three games in group play. With six goals for the squad and only two against them, RSL Academy also had the third-best goal differential, trailing only LAFC and Valencia CF, while tied with Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Austin FC earned 5 points in group play with a 1-1-1 record. Austin defeated Celtic in regulation, defeated Seattle Sounders in penalty kicks, and lost to their group leader Sporting Kansas City. Austin FC has only scored three goals while allowing two to get past them.
If they advance, RSL Academy’s U15 team will face the winner of Mexico’s Universidad Nacional Pumas and Spain’s Valencia CF.
