HERRIMAN, Utah (Tuesday, Feb 3, 2025) -Â The Real Salt Lake Academy duo composed of FW Van Parker (Canada) and MF Reignen Magsino (Puerto Rico) both report to their respective federations to participate in the U17 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.
Looking to qualify for a second consecutive World Cup, Parker and the Canucks will participate in Group G facing off against Jamaica, Aruba, and Cayman Islands. In last year’s tournament Canada opened with a historic 2-1 win over Uganda to clinch the nation’s first-ever win in the U17 world cup, a match Parker would start and log 90 minutes. The RSL Academy striker would appear in all four matches of Canada’s run to the Round of 32 before ultimately falling 0-0 (9:8) to Ireland.
Prior to reporting to camp, Parker inked his professional on his seventeenth birthday earlier this week rounding out the Claret-and-Cobalt’s 2026 homegrown class. Parker joins recent first-team signings MF Griffin Dillon, FW Diego Rocio and FW Antonio Riquelme in extending the Club’s all-time count of Academy homegrowns to 49, the leader amongst all 30 MLS sides at the forefront of youth development.
El Huracán Azul and Magsino will participate in Group D of the 2026 CONCACAF U17 qualifier, matching up against Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the British Virgin Islands. After missing out on the 2025 U17 World Cup, Puerto Rico hopes to qualify for the first time ever in the new annual cycle adopted by FIFA last year. Qatar will host the tournament until 2029.
Both Parker and Magsino were members of the historic RSL Academy 2024-25 U16 squad, led by former RSL midfielder Jordan Allen, which became the first team to ever claim championships in both Generation adidas Cup and MLS NEXT Cup in the same season.
Real Salt Lake Academy is the official MLS NEXT affiliate of MLS side Real Salt Lake. Leading Major League Soccer in homegrown signees, RSL now welcomes Griffin Dillon, Diego Rocio and Antonio Riquelme to its 2026 class. The trio of RSL Academy products now brings the number of homegrown signings to an MLS-high of 48, after each inked their deals with the Claret-and-Cobalt.
