RSL Academy vs. Seattle Sounders; Vancouver Whitecaps

RSL Academy 2022/2023 Season Records: U-15 Team 13W-5L-1D, U-17 Team 8W-4L-7D
Over the weekend the Real Salt Lake Academy took a trip to the Pacific Northwest where they faced the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps academies.
The U-17s suffered two forgettable defeats, losing 4-0 to the Sounders on Saturday and again by the same scoreline across the border against the Whitecaps on Sunday.
The U15s weekend started off much stronger, defeating Seattle 3-1. Karlos Flores opened the scoring with a penalty in the 17th minute after Lorenzo Tuch was fouled inside the 18-yard box. Leading 1-0 after the half, Real Salt Lake added another goal as Van Parker found the back of the net off an assist from Flores in the 46th minute. Gio Aguirre added an insurance goal in the 55th minute assisted by Antonio Riquelme. The Sounders would get one back in the 60th, but RSL held on to win 3-1.
Sunday’s matchup against Vancouver was a close battle for the full 80 minutes. Parker added his second of the weekend in the 80+2nd minute to bring RSL within one, but the late comeback was not enough as the Whitecaps claimed the victory 2-1.
What’s Next: Real Salt Lake will complete the Pacific Northwest trifecta this Saturday when they take on the Portland Timbers Academy in The City of Roses.
