HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday, March 26, 2026) - Real Salt Lake Academy splits amongst itself departing the Wasatch Front today for the 2026 Dallas Cup and 2026 Generation adidas Cup.
Participating in Dallas Cup for the first time since 2019 after MLS NEXT discontinued the U19 division of Generation adidas Cup, Real Salt Lake Academy will compete in the U19 Super Group Division A. The Claret-and-Cobalt open its group stage against Liga MX side Deportivo Toluca F.C. on Mar. 29, before facing Premier League squad Aston Villa FC on Mar. 30 and concluding with Série A representative SAF Botafogo on Apr. 1.
On its lone off day (Tuesday, Mar. 31) RSL Academy in conjunction with FC Dallas Academy and Philadelphia Union Academy will host an intersquad College Showcase to be held at Richland College Soccer Complex in Dallas, TX. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 am CT.
The three MLS academies all participating in Dallas Cup will combine its squads to make up two 11v11 squads competing in a 90-minute friendly in hopes of providing its college-pathway players an opportunity to perform with multiple college scouts in attendance, from many of the most prestigious soccer universities in the nation.
Looking to defend its title in Bradenton, FL, Real Salt Lake Academy U16s will open Generation adidas Cup play in Group A against Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg on Mar. 27, before facing New York City FC on Mar. 28, and closing group play on Mar. 29 against Nashville SC.
Capturing its first Generation adidas Cup title since 2008 last year en route to its historic “Double” feat, becoming the first side to win both Generation adidas and MLS NEXT Cups in the same season the Claret-and-Cobalt eye a strong performance after high roster and staff turnover. RSL Academy products Nico Ovalle and Fito Ovalle will debut as Co-Interim Head Coaches filling the void left by former RSL homegrown and now Real Monarchs Assistant coach Jordan Allen.
Real Salt Lake Academy is the official MLS NEXT affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake. Leading MLS in all-time homegrown signees (49), RSL earlier this year welcomed Griffin Dillon, Van Parker, Diego Rocio and Antonio Riquelme to its 2026 class.
