HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, Mar 9, 2025) - Real Salt Lake Academy DF Eric Saavedra has been called up to the U16 United States Youth National Team. Reporting to Head Coach Paul Simpson today, Saavedra will participate in a week-long Domestic Training Camp in West Palm Beach, FL.
New to the Wasatch Front, joining RSL Academy prior to the 2025-26 MLS NEXT season, Saavedra anchored himself in the U16 back line. Displaying sound defending, Saavedra also provides the Claret-and-Cobalt attacking power, cementing himself as a threat on the left side. Â
Real Salt Lake Academy is the official MLS NEXT affiliate of MLS side Real Salt Lake. Leading Major League Soccer in homegrown signees, RSL now welcomes Griffin Dillon, Van Parker, Diego Rocio and Antonio Riquelme to its 2026 class. The quartet of RSL Academy products now brings the number of homegrown signings to an MLS-high of 49, after each inked their deals with the Claret-and-Cobalt.
