SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando ran away with the final 2013 Save of the Week award - his second straight - for his reaction save in the Claret-and-Cobalt's 2-1 win over Chivas USA on Sept. 23.
Rimando won Save of the Week for a wonderful reaction save in the 16th minute of RSL's final regular season game at Rio Tinto Stadium. The veteran 'keeper punched away a powerful close-range header from Chivas USA's Erick Torres that seemed destined to the bottom right corner.
Rimando took nearly 58 percent of the vote to win the award, beating out D.C.'s Bill Hamid, Chicago's Sean Johnson, New England's Matt Reis and Toronto's Joe Bendik. The win is Rimando's ninth Save of the Week win of the season and second in the league behind Portland's Donovan Ricketts who finished the season with 10 wins.
