Rimando remains in the lead for MLS All-Star voting

Three weeks into MLS All-Star voting, Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando is still leading his position and midfielder Kyle Beckerman is still narrowly outside of the top four midfielders who will be named to the First XI after voting ends on July 3.


The Real Salt Lake duo highlight the list of Major League Soccer’s best who are atop the fan voting through four weeks.  Voting ends at 1 p.m. MT on July 3 and fans can cast votes three different ways – online balloting; through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; and EA Sports FIFA 15 voting.


The top vote-getters are as follows:


Goalkeeper (1)
Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Stefan Frei (Seattle Sounders FC), Tim Melia (Sporting Kansas City), Jaime Penedo (LA Galaxy).


Defenders (3)
Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC), Chad Marshall (Seattle Sounders FC).


Midfielders (4)
Kaka (Orlando City SC), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake).


Forwards (2 – a 3rd FWD will be added through the EA Sports FIFA 15 Voting)
Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), David Villa (New York City FC), Kei Kamara (Columbus Crew SC), Dom Dwyer (Sporting Kansas City).


The All-Star Game, with the best of MLS meeting Tottenham Hotspur, will be July 29 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
