SANDY, UT – Real Salt Lake has announced that it has signed Argentine FW Sebastian Jaime to a contract pending his P-1 visa. Jaime joins the Claret-and-Cobalt after spending four seasons with Chilean Primera División club Unión Española. Per league and club policy, further terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

“When we lost Alvaro Saborio for a long period of time we knew we had to consider all our attacking options,” said RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey. “We had scouted Sebastian Jaime going back to 2012 and decided now was the right time to bring him in. We are excited to add a versatile player like Jaime who can comfortably play in either forward role in our system.  Jaime has completed pre-season in Chile and played 90 minutes in each of Unión Española’s first three league games so we expect him to be able to contribute immediately. He is a hard working player that we expect will be a good fit with our locker room and our community and we hope our fans will welcome him enthusiastically.”

Jaime joined Chilean Primera División club Unión Española in 2011 after a one year stint at second tier club La Serena. The Argentine striker made a total of 124 appearances for Unión Española, recording a total of 39 goals for the Santiago-based club. Jaime helped lead Los Rojos to the Supercopa de Chile and Primera División crowns in 2013.

The La Plata, Arg., native began his professional career with Argentine club Defensores de Cambaceres in 2008, where he spent one year before joining second division team Argentinos Juniors. The 27-year-old spent two seasons with the prominent Buenos Aires club spanning 2009-10, before making his way to Chile.
