SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, July 13, 2016) – Real Salt Lake General Manager Craig Waibel announced on Monday that the club will loan FW Devon Sandoval to Rayo OKC of the North American Soccer League for the remainder of the 2016 season.

“This is a good opportunity for me to get consistent playing time.  I’m excited to play in Oklahoma City,” Sandoval said.  “I’m on good terms with the organization and Craig Waibel, Jeff Cassar and my teammates have all been very supportive.  It’s a good opportunity and you never know what can happen.”

Since being selected in the second round (29th overall) in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, Sandoval, 25, has played in 72 MLS matches for the Claret-and-Cobalt, starting 36 times.  He has notched seven goals and three assists in that time, including a career-best four goals and two assists in 30 appearances last year.  This season he has logged 223 minutes in 10 appearances, starting twice for RSL.  In addition, he has played in five matches with Real Monarchs in the last two seasons, tallying one goal and one assist for the USL club.

Rayo OKC finished the Spring 2016 season in eighth place in the 11-team NASL with a 3-4-3 record.  Rayo OKC boasts a slew of former RSL players, including DF Rauwshan McKenzie, MF Pecka, MF Sebastian Velasquez and FW Robbie Findley, who was second on the team with three goals in the Spring season.  Additionally, OKC DF Jarad van Schaik was drafted by RSL in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.
