HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday, September 3, 2026) — Real Salt Lake announced today it has permanently acquired 19-year-old Serbian MF Dušan Žagar via transfer from FK IMT Belgrade of the Serbian Super Liga. Arriving at the close of Wednesday’s 2026 secondary window for Major League Soccer, Žagar’s agreement as the Club’s latest U22 roster designation is signed through the conclusion of the 2028/29 MLS Season, with RSL owning two option years through June 30, 2031. Terms of the RSL purchase from IMT Belgrade are undisclosed.

“It’s a huge honor and a dream come true to join Real Salt Lake,” said Žagar Wednesday from Belgrade. “I’m extremely happy and grateful for this opportunity and excited to represent the club.

“I’m ready to work, learn, grow and give everything I have for the team, the club and the fans. Can’t wait to get started. See you soon in Salt Lake!”

Žagar, born Oct. 28, 2006, in Belgrade, Serbia, has amassed 42 appearances for IMT Belgrade as a teenager in the last 18 months, scoring three goals. A former Red Star Belgrade Academy product, Dašan Žagar (pronounced duh - SHAWN zuh - GARR) will see his move to Utah completed upon receipt of the International Transfer Certificate and the P-1 visa process.

"Bringing Dušan to Utah marks the latest in a series of moves for young wingers in our Club," said Real Salt Lake Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid. "His emerging career in Serbia saw us compete with several European suitors for his services, and we believe that our developmental track record with Andrés Gómez and Zavier Gozo, amongst others, made us an attractive option."
