Real Monarchs vs Las Vegas Lights FC Quote Sheet

QUOTE SHEET
Real Monarchs SLC 2-2 Las Vegas Lights FC
Zions Bank Stadium; Herriman, UT
September 4, 2019
Head Coach Jamison Olave
On the match:
“We got the point in the end. We’ll take it, because every point can help us later in the season, but we also know that we have to perform to win. I think we played well tonight. Vegas came and they fought hard and tried to win. We didn’t react well in the first half, when we went down. We tied it later on in the first half, but we were lucky to get a point today.”
On not converting chances:
“We created the chances, but we just couldn’t finish them. That made a big difference, because when you don’t put the chances away, anything can happen. The backline played well tonight, but we just couldn’t put our chances away. When they scored the second one off a counter-attack, we went down again, and then we had to come from behind again to tie the game.”
On trying to keep everyone fit for Saturday:
“It’s a quick turnaround, so we have to take care of the players. We’ll see which players will be good to play Saturday in LA, because we have to try to get a result there. Two ties at home doesn’t look good in this part of the season.”
Midfielder Jack Blake
On getting the brace in the dying minutes:
“Mixed emotions, to be honest. Frustrated not to come out with the three points, we felt as though we didn’t perform to our best tonight, which is frustrating because we know the quality that we have. At the same time, to come back and show the fight that we did as a team, to come back and get the tie, is pleasing. Overall, I think it’s quite disappointing that we didn’t get the result that we wanted.”
On what he saw on Las Vegas’s goals:
“I think a lack of concentration. We work so hard for 90 minutes and there’s a couple lapses of concentration as a team. I think the first one was brought on because we started sloppy, we didn’t connect passes — me included — and as a team, I think we got punished for that.”
On Saturday’s game:
“Just the same things we do day in and day out. We’re not worried about the fitness side, we’re a fit team. We’ve got people that can come in and make a difference as well, we’ve got a well-rounded squad. I’m not worried about playing three, four days later. We’re just looking forward to going away and trying to get three more points.”
Forward Kyle Coffee
On turning the losing game into a draw:
“It feels good to get the draw right there at the death. Obviously it’s not the result we had come in wanting, especially with a possibility to jump up on the table and secure our spot a little bit more. It’s frustrating, but at least we came out with a point.”
On the Monarch’s lack of getting the ball in the net:
“It’s hard to say. We had a lot of chances, a lot of half chances, getting balls in the box. They had numbers back which makes it difficult sometimes when we sell forward and they drop in.”
On playing an upcoming third game within eight days:
“Going through our team and depth. Everyone has to be ready to make their impact when they get their chance and stay on their front foot.”
