Telling Stat: 56%. The Monarchs again won the aerial duels battle in a frustrating night in Texas. The Monarchs fought to win the battles in the air, nearly scoring a headed second half goal while doing its due diligence on the defensive side of the ball as well.

What You Missed: The Monarchs have now failed to beat San Antonio in its last three meetings between the sides with the Utah side last beating SAFC late in the 2016 season. The defeat was frustratingly the second-worst defeat of the year for the Monarchs as the club grinds through the summer against tough opposition.

So What: Just past the midway point of the season, the Monarchs now sit three points behind Major League Soccer bound FC Cincinnati atop the USL table, but have one match in hand over the Eastern Conference side. The Monarchs currently carry the third-best goal differential in the Western Conference at +11 going into this weekend’s high-profile clash with Phoenix Rising FC. The Monarchs will host Phoenix at Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday, July 28th as Didier Drogba and Co. look to close the points gap on the Monarchs atop the West table. Kick off in Herriman is set for 8:00 p.m. MT.
