HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, September 3, 2021) – Real Monarchs have announced the signing of 16-year-old goalkeeper Gavin Beavers from the Real Salt Lake Academy, pending league and federation approval.

During his time in our academy, Gavin has approached his craft with the dedication and focus of a veteran player,” Real Salt Lake Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran said. Though we commend Gavin for his efforts leading to now, the real work is just beginning. We all look forward to watching his continued progress as a professional.”
Beavers joined the RSL Academy ahead of the 2020 season and spent much of the year training with the Real Monarchs, even making the gameday roster on several occasions. On June 26, 2021 Beavers made his professional debut with the Monarchs, and at the time made history as the youngest goalkeeper in USL Championship history.
This year, Beavers has made nine saves in two appearances, earning a 1-1 draw against San Antonio FC and a 3-2 win over New Mexico United.

With the addition of Beavers, Real Monarchs now have three contracted players to make the jump from the RSL Academy to the USL Championship level, including Julio Benitez and Jaziel Orozco. All together the Real Monarchs have featured 18 past and present RSL Academy members.
