QUOTE SHEET
Real Monarchs SLC 0-2 Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC
Zions Bank Stadium; Herriman, Utah
September 29, 2018
Real Monarchs SLC
Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave
On the chances for a goal:
āThe team played well. We went forward a lot and created a lot chances. We didnāt win the game because the Colorado goalkeeper had a great night. We created and he saved many chances they hit us on the counter attack and that will win them the game.ā
On seven games without a win:
āTo be honest, we turned that point that itās not game-by-game. I need to be honest with myself, with my players, with everyone, itās something that we are worrying about. We worry about winning. Going into the playoffs, itās something that is a concern. We need to get better if we want to advance in the playoffs. The way we are conceding goals itās unbelievable. Today was different, we played better, we created chances but weāre still losing and conceding goals on the counter attack. We need to find a way to win because itās not enough to just play well and create chances.ā
Midfielder Jack Blake
On the result:
āIt felt very frustrating. It just didnāt seem to be our night ā we had a lot of chances, didnāt put them away and we got punished for it. The first half we performed really well, knocking on the door, I thought their keeper pulled off some great saves. As a team we drove really well, especially considering the previous results. Weāre on a run of bad form and I thought we turned that around. First half, we played well, we came into half time and Olave said the only way they were going to score was from a counter attack, we need to put away our chances and thatās exactly what happened. We didnāt put away our chances, hit the crossbar, they scored a counter attack. It feels like the same story every game.ā
On the seven games without a win:
āIt seems like the whole league has been talking about it. As a group we arenāt getting too down about it. Itās important to stay positive in this situation. Weāve clinched the playoff spot so itās just trying to build momentum. We didnāt do it tonight but we have two games left, another one at home on Wednesday. Itās a quick turnaround which is good for the lads so I feel we can put it right on Wednesday, get a good result away and have a good result going into the playoffs.ā
A message to the fans:
āThe fans were brilliant tonight, probably the best theyāve been all season. Theyāre always fantastic but tonight it was extra special. Itās great for us to hear the noise from them. Keep behind us, all the lads really appreciate the support. We know itās far to travel out here and we appreciate everyone that comes. Letās get more and more people down here.ā
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC
Head Coach Steve Trittschuh
On picking up three points at Zions Bank Stadium:
āItās good. Weāre not in the playoffs, but I told the players letās finish these last few games on a positive note. Itās a little disappointing because thatās what weāre capable of doing is playing that well and winning games. So we just have to keep winning those last few games.ā
Keeping this momentum looking towards next season:
āWe still play in Fresno and Seattle so we want to get some positive results there. Iāve got to make the team better next year so Iāll be looking at players and try to bring some quality players in.ā
Forward Martin Maybin
On picking up three points at Zions Bank Stadium:
āItās massive. Thatās what we came to do and thatās exactly what we did but that just adds to our frustration for the season. I said it last week before we played Arizona, we are capable of beating pretty much any team in this league and if we were consistently doing that all year we would be in the playoffs. It feels great, but we are frustrated for ourselves, the fans, and the coaches.ā
On his goal:
āIt was coming on just to see out the game, if we got the ball get it into the corner. Shane did an absolutely brilliant job in the corner. I saw the first defender go to the front post so I just peeled down between the two and Shane set it up for me so all I had to do was put it in the back of the net.ā
