Real Monarchs SLC 1 at LA Galaxy II 6
September 22, 2018; Carson, California; Stubhub Center
Real Monarchs SLC (17-11-3, 54 points); LA Galaxy II (10-15-6, 36 points)

Man of the Match: Forward Chandler Hoffman helped lead the Monarchs attack against the heavily defended Los Dos goal. With a run for down the right side, Hoffman positioned himself perfectly for the lone Monarchs goal, notching his team-leading 12th goal of the season. Hoffman completed over 81% of his passing in the attacking third, trying to find openings with his teammates to capitalize.

Telling Stat: 64.5%. The Monarchs once again controlled the possession of the game, trying to find a weakness in the crowded LA Galaxy II defense. The use of possession and passing lead to the Monarchs out shooting the Galaxy II 14 to 12, and producing 25 crosses in search of the elusive goals.

What You Missed: The Real Monarchs woes continued as the team took a devastating loss in Carson, California. With a 6-1 score line, The Monarchs suffered its worst loss in club history. Chandler Hoffman scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season to pull one back from the Galaxy II. Forward Sebastian Velazquez made his return to the pitch after picking up an injury in mid-August, coming on as a sub for the second half.

So What: While the Real Monarchs didn’t come away with the win at the Stubhub Center, results elsewhere secured the Monarchs a second consecutive playoff appearance with three games left in the season. Two of the three remaining games will be played on the Monarchs home turf of Zions Bank Stadium, providing a critical opportunity to start swinging momentum in favor of Real Monarchs going into the post-season. That opportunity starts on Saturday, September 29 when the Monarchs return home from its SoCal trip to host Rocky Mountain rivals Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Kickoff from Zions Bank Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. MT and tickets are still available at RealMonarchs.com or by calling 844.REAL.TIX.
