Real Monarchs Draw with San Antonio FC

HERRIMAN, Utah (Saturday, June 26, 2021) – Real Monarchs (1-5-4, 7 points) drew 1-1 with San Antonio FC at Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday night, the second draw between the two sides this season.

Douglas Martínez scored his first goal of the season for the Monarchs in the first half and Justin Dhillon recorded the game-tying goal in the second half for San Antonio FC.

Both sides started the first half with a flurry of chances, but the defenses stood strong. In the 39th minute, Martínez received the ball at the top of the box and fired a right-footed shot past the keeper to give the Monarchs the lead at the break.

In the second half, the game began to open up defensively for the Monarchs. Eventually, San Antonio FC found the equalizer on a goal from Dhillon in the 77th minute. Despite the home side looking likely to find a second, the San Antonio defense held and the match ended 1-1.
