HERRIMAN, Utah (Saturday, March 26, 2022) – Real Monarchs Head Coach Jamison Olave has unveiled the roster ahead of the Club's first-ever MLS NEXT Pro context on Sunday, March 27 at Tacoma Defiance.

Game Notes for Sunday’s match can be found here.

The 2022 roster is comprised of eight signed to MLS NEXT Pro contracts, players from Real Salt Lake who can be temporarily assigned to the Monarchs, as well as RSL Academy players who can be called up to train and play at the next level.

Academy products FW Yekeson Subah and FW Terron Williams lead the way for Real Monarchs, having risen to the next level after impressive stints in the youth academy system. Both are signed to Real Monarchs contracts, situations similar to those of MF Julio Benitez and DF Jaziel Orozco, both of whom previously played for Monarchs before signing Homegrown Player deals with Real Salt Lake. Additionally, former RSL Academy DF Bobby Pierre returns to Utah after spending time overseas with FC Strasbourg (France).

MLS NEXT Pro contracted players also include 2022 MLS SuperDraft pick MF Pedro Fonseca (Louisville) and recent college graduates MF Tyrone Mondi (Oregon State) and DF Pierre Reedy (Penn State). The trio combined for 38 goals and 39 assists for their respective universities.

Joining Olave's squad are MF Jack Imperato and MF Leo Torres, both transfers from USL Championship clubs. Imperato comes to Utah by way of Orange County SC and the Villareal Academy in Spain. Torres returns to Real Monarchs after a short loan stint in 2021 from San Antonio FC, during which he scored two goals in seven games. Torres returns to the Wasatch Front on a season-long loan.

Olave is entering into his third season at the helm, having previously served as the Interim Head Coach on two separate occasions. As head coach, he led the team to the 2019 USL Championship Cup and has earned a 25-42-15 record.

He is joined by second-year assistant coach Joel DeLass and goalkeeper coach Mirza Harambasic.

Real Monarchs are set to compete in MLS NEXT Pro for the 2022 season, a move which comes following seven seasons in the USL Championship. The Utah side won the 2019 USL Championship Cup, the 2017 USL Regular Season Shield and the Western Conference Title in both 2017 and 2019, while also qualifying for the postseason in 2018.
